EABC 2009 Summer Race Series
The second half of the Summer Series saw some of the most exciting races of the season with the novice ranks starting to swell and the finishes coming down to one or two missed targets. The August 6 race attracted some very fast woman including Melinda McAleese, who knocked down 2 more targets than second place finisher Orla Walsh to take the win. Allen Mead used his running speed to shorten his time on penalty loops and win the very competitive Novice Male 40-49 category. Patrick Coffey came out of retirement, borrowed a rifle, tightened his sandals and sped to victory in the Senior Male category. Derrick Schultz edged weekly rival Hayden Bove for first in the Youth category and first place overall on the day. Michael Quigley shot clean, Charlie Whitney missed only one, and Phillip Holt cleaned 8 of 10 to lead the way in the range. The August 13 race saw Charlie Whitney, Allen Mead, Andy Holt, Derrick Schultz, Tyler Ludington, and King Milne win their categories once again with inspired shooting from Mike Quigley (as always!) and Jesse Downs shooting 90%. The final race of the 2009 Summer Series brought many now familiar faces and a few new ones together for a challenging course and four shooting stops. Tyler Ludington finished the season undefeated, capturing the Senior Male division. Hayden Bove took home bragging rights for the day in the Youth category, and Allen Mead continued his domination amongst the Novice Males. Thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed the races. Thanks to everyone who helped put away mats and roll up the ropes. Thanks to all the range and timing volunteers. Thanks to the National Guard for their help, participation and use of these incredible facilities. Looking forward to seeing everyone for the winter race series in January/February.
